Rosacea

Rosacea, is a very common skin condition prevalent in persons of fair skin type, (Celtic or Northern European heredity (Fitzpatrick 1 or 2)).  However it can be found in dark skinned patients as well. Though scientific research has not been performed to prove this, surveys suggest that Rosacea may be inherited, and that ethnicity is a factor. Rosacea is not considered an infectious disease, and there is no evidence that it can be spread by contact with the skin or through inhaling airborne bacteria.  It shows up as a flushed-looking skin on the cheeks, nose, or forehead. Some people have red or purple spider-web-like blood vessels visible just under the skin, and overgrown oil glands that have a bumpy yellow-orange, pearly appearance. Usually seen in people between the ages of 20 and 70, the exact cause of Rosacea is unknown, however the following  unproven theories exist:

The perpetual flush and noticeable blood vessels (Telangectasia) of Rosacea are caused by dilated blood vessels located just under the skin. Although these look like "broken" blood vessels, they aren't. Normally when you blush, the vessels dilate, bringing blood close to the surface. Then as they constrict, redness goes away. In Rosacea sufferers, these blood vessels don't constrict anymore and the perpetual blush lingers.

Common Rosacea Tripwires:

To reduce your symptoms, identify your flushing& triggers and avoid them. Physicians have observed that the signs and symptoms tend to become increasingly severe without treatment. Since Rosacea tends to be progressive, it is better to bring it under control as soon as possible. Rosacea can't be cured, per se, but there are many ways to minimize its appearance.
Treatments for rosacea associated  bumps, pimples and redness, vary substantially from one patient to another, and are tailored by a physician/Aesthetician  on  individual case basis.

Treatment Options

The effectiveness of antibiotics against Rosacea symptoms is widely believed to be due to their anti-inflammatory effect, rather than their ability to destroy bacteria.
Thus compliance with medical therapy and lifestyle modifications to avoid Rosacea triggers has been shown to effectively control its signs and symptoms on a long-term basis.
Topical therapy is usually preferred long-term. because of the higher risk of adverse reactions associated with long-term use of oral antibiotics. Side effects are usually minimal, because the amount of medication absorbed into the bloodstream is either absent or minuscule.
Once medication has diminished the redness, it is not uncommon for spider veins to become more noticeable but these can be removed using

Rosacea is a chronic disorder, rather than a short-term condition, and studies have shown that Rosacea patients who continued therapy for the long term are less likely to experience a recurrence of symptoms.
No medical evidence has linked Rosacea directly with skin cancer. However, Rosacea sufferers , may be more likely to develop skin cancer later in life because of their likely fair complexion which  is prone to injury from ultra-violet radiation from the sun.
Although here is no standard skin type for Rosacea patients, in general Rosacea skin is sensitive and skin care should include:
